Working for Lansing’s Students
PUTTING LANSING STUDENTS FIRST
My connection to Lansing schools is personal.
As a parent in the Lansing School District, I have spent time listening to families, participating in the Lansing School District Parent Roundtable, volunteering in my children's school community, and advocating for the things I believe students need to thrive. My involvement has taken me from supporting school athletics and libraries to working with neighborhood organizations on opportunities for Lansing's young people.
Outside of the classroom, I have spent more than two decades working in science, natural resources, and public service. My career has taken me into forests, classrooms, emergency response, and technical fields, where I have led teams, mentored others, managed risk, and taught people skills they can carry into the future.
I will bring that same mindset to Lansing schools: listen first, solve problems, build partnerships, and create more ways for students to find their path.

Why Lansing Schools Matter to Me
I’ve shown up for Lansing students through library advocacy, athletics, environmental education, and neighborhood projects. I’ve helped support Lansing cross-country and track runners, brought Earth Day education to Riddle Elementary, and advocated for strong school libraries.
I’ve seen what can happen when parents, educators, community organizations, and students work together. I want to bring that same spirit of collaboration to the Lansing School Board.
Our students deserve every opportunity to find their path, and I’m ready to help build those opportunities.

Heidi believes decisions in the Lansing School District should start with one question: What gives our students the best opportunity to succeed?
Her mission is to support equitable education, strengthen the people and programs that serve students, and make sure Lansing schools are preparing young people for the opportunities ahead.

Prepare Students for What Comes Next.
Lansing students should leave school with strong academic foundations and real options for their future.
Heidi wants to expand pathways to universities, skilled trades, apprenticeships, aviation, welding, building trades, STEM and other careers while building partnerships that connect students with opportunities beyond the classroom.

Heidi believes every student deserves access to enrichment, athletics, libraries and educational opportunities.
She believes strong schools are built through partnerships with families, educators and the broader Lansing community. She believes investments in school facilities should be sustainable both financially and environmentally.
